Energy
Our electricity is 100% renewable and is achieved through PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) with biomass, wind, photo-voltaic (PV) and hydroelectric generators across Northern Ireland. We use natural gas that is carbon off-set assured. We are an historic listed building but were awarded an Energy rating C moving up from a G rating after the renovation. LED and automatic switch- off lighting throughout. The building has been fitted with an Eco-climate heating and cooling control system. Hot water is even set and regulated for energy saving.
Towels & Capes
We use super-soft compostable cellulose hair-towels by 'Scrummi' and colour-capes by 'EasyDry' all made from plant-fibre - they are super hygienic / have huge water-saving compared to laundered towels and produce dramatically less environmental waste. Even our toilet rolls and facial tissues are from 'Cheeky Panda' and made from sustainable bamboo.
Water
We have a water conservation policy in place. New innovative water reducing shower heads that reduce water by 60%. We have a fresh & filtered water-station for guests and staff to use in-salon removing the need to purchase bottled-water.
Products & Packaging
We stock Davines - a B-Corp company providing a beautiful range of Ethical and Eco respectful products. Our Aluminium Foil, colour tubes & lids are all recycled. L’Oreal Professional is making huge strides in committing to achieving carbon zero, planet protection, environmental sustainability and ecological respect.
Gloves & Cleaning Products
We use concentrates and refills,, up-sourcing eco-friendly products where ever we can. Literally 1000’s of plastic bottles saved so far. We use compostable gloves made from bio-mass waste in sugar-cane production - low carbon, vegan friendly. All refuse sacks used throughout are compostable and even reused where we possibly can.
Recyclable Waste
We use waste-sorting bins through-out the building. We work hard to separate and recycle as much as possible. All waste is removed & recycled after by ‘River Ridge Waste’ - Guaranteed nothing goes to land-fill.
Hair & Food Waste Compostable
We use waste-sorting bins through-out the building. Food waste is composted. Hair is now also fully composted. Guaranteed nothing goes to land-fill.
Non-recyclable Waste
We use waste-sorting bins through-out the building. Finally any small amount of materials that are left over and cannot be recycled/ composted are removed and incinerated for energy - expelled gases from this process are guaranteed by ‘River Ridge Waste’ to be captured and neutralised.
Local
We love to use as many local suppliers as we can to cut down on delivery distance but also it's just really good to support our business’s and communities.
Green Fee
£2 GREEN FEE [it ’s less than a coffee] per customer allows us to do all these amazing things ex. we always go [the more costly] compostable rather than the easier biodegrade and continue to seek out new alternatives whilst consistently implementing our Green Commitment to you and to our wonderful planet.
